A Mouse, A Whale, An Owl & A Bat
William Steig books, including Amos & Boris, a story of the mouse, Amos, and Boris the whale, a devoted pair of friends with nothing at all in common, except good hearts and willingness to help their fellow creatures.  A tender yet comical story of this friendship recorded in text and pictures that are a model of rich simplicity.  There is a stuffed whale and small mouse finger puppet as well as other William Steig books, including Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, Brave Irene, Tiffky Doofky, Doctor DeSoto, and Farmer Palmer's Wagon Ride.  Local artist and puppeteer, Robin Hillary McCahill, has been painting and making things for as long as she can remember.  Here are two of her acrylic on canvas paintings - a 6" x 6" owl on a branch, done in shades of green with flecks of purples and a 6" x 6" flying bat in shades of purples.
