House With Bird Porcelain Sculpture
Bisque fired, then high fired at 2300 degrees, this English porcelain, clear glaze sculpture symbolizes ‘home’ and all that home connotes. The bird on the roof is the protector of home. Suitable for holding poems or notes to a loved one, tea bags, or perhaps just suitable for admiring. Local ceramicist Diana Chamberlain, trained at St. Martin’s School of Art in London, and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, works in porcelain for its suppleness, delicacy and strength. She believes that porcelain’s willingness to transform makes it a perfect medium for exploring the concept of shelter.
