"Ridge Pond"
A professional illustrator and artist, Nancy White Cassidy of New Milford says nature is a driving force in her art and she particularly enjoys working with soft pastels en plein air. Nancy finds pastels the most immediate medium to capture the moment, especially when the light or atmosphere is most changeable. In this pastel painting the artist was struck by the complement of blue and orange and worked to capture the essence of the wetland and trees. Nancy earned an MFA in Visual Art from Western CT State University and teaches pastels at Washington Art Association.

"Flanders through the Seasons"
Matt Wood, this year’s cover artist for the Four Seasons of Flanders auction brochure, has painted a beautiful triptych depicting three scenes at Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust. When asked what inspired him, Matt was quick to say that living near the nature center and experiencing the seasonal views is something that he wanted to celebrate in this piece. Matt has exhibited his work extensively, including at Behnke Doherty Gallery, Good News Café, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, and The John Slade Ely House, among others, and has been awarded a Weir Farm Visiting Artist Fellowship. Presently Mr. Wood is working on the ASAP (After School Arts Program) mural in Torrington, Ct, a project that drew children and adults to paint the outdoor mural.
